Event Details

MARGMA successfully convened its 37th Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025 at One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya on Saturday, 31 May 2025. It was well attended by a total of 141 delegates, comprising 49 ordinary member-companies (with voting rights) and 23 associate member-companies. The event saw strong participation from industry stakeholders, reinforcing the association’s commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation in the rubber glove sector.  

Prior to the AGM proceedings, a panel discussion was conducted, focusing on “Reshaping the Rubber Glove Industry’s Human Capital in the Digital Era”, moderated by Mr. Bobby. The session featured a distinguished panel of industry and digital transformation experts:  

  • Andrew Woon, Managing Director of Faber-Castell Malaysia 
  • Shamsul Izhan Abdul Majid, Head of the National AI Office 
  • Yuki Aizawa, Co-Founder/Co-CEO Rinne Technologies and Consulting/Malaysia Country Director and APAC Director, Women in Tech Global movement 
  • Adj. Professor Murugason R. Thangaratnam, Cyber Security Consultant/Member of MDEC Digital Expert Network/Member of Ministry of Digital’s Protem Committee on Data Governance 

 

Key Discussion Points:  

  1. Information dissemination on Technological Advancement: Panelists examined  how to enhance knowledge-sharing on digital innovations (AI, analytics, data centers) can be effectively communicated across the industry, addressing gaps between emerging technologies and traditional manufacturing practices within rubber industry.  
  2. Sustainable Natural Rubber Value Chain: The discussions highlighted opportunities for digital solutions in upstream rubber production could enhance sustainability and efficiency.  
  3. Role of National Agencies in Digital Enablement: The National AI Office shared their role in promoting digital transformation within established industries, ensuring their growth and competitiveness. Along with their initiatives to support digital transformation in traditional sectors like rubber manufacturing. 
  4. Measuring Digital Transformation Success (Faber Castell Case Study): Mr. Andrew Woon elaborated the financial impact of digital adoption in manufacturing, including operational cost savings, the projected return-on-investment (ROI), and payback periods from the digital investments.  
  5. Government Funding for AI in Human Capital Development – A comparison between Malaysia’s AI funding strategies and those of neighbor countries, particularly Singapore, and their impact on workforce and readiness in promoting AI in human capital development. 
  6. AI in Predicting Political and Policy Risks: The panel delved into AI’s potential in forecasting political instability and geopolitical risks, enabling business to strategize proactively.   

 

The panelists provided valuable industry perspectives, addressing challenges and opportunities. Members gained valuable insights and key takeaways from the discussion, reinforcing the importance of digital adaptation in sustaining industry growth.   

Following the panel discussion, the formal AGM commenced with a platform where members had the opportunity engaged in discussion, raised pertinent concerns, shared insights, and sought clarifications on key agenda items.  

The AGM concluded at approximately 2:00 pm, with MARGMA President delivering a vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to all participants for their valuable contributions throughout the meeting and contribution to the success of the MARGMA 37th AGM 2025.
